${SETSERIAL} /dev/cua1 ${AUTO_IRQ} autoconfig
is I use in /etc/rc.d/rc.serials.

And I connect everytime at a locked speed of 115200. 

My MTU is 4096, My Mss is 1500.

No problems here.
