I'm no expert, but it sounds like you need to review your routing tables
on your Linux box (which would have nothing to do with masquerading).

A good way to verify whether this is your problem is to try to do the
same operations from the Linux machine (so that masquerading does not get
involved).  If you have the same problem then you know the problem is not
with masquerading, and if the problem is not there then you have
confirmation about the problem being with masquerading.
