Since many Massachusetts FDs are moving to UHF, lets consider the simplest radio that will be appropriate.
1. The simplest radio will have 2 channels - Ch 1 local - Ch2 UCall - theoretically, with just these 2 channels, this radio will be operable anywhere in the USA. 2. Everything listed below is a 'complication" of Item # 1 - and begins to approach an absolute violation of KISS. 3. The next simplest radio will have - Ch1 & Ch2 & the rest of the UTac freqs. I think there are 4 UTac freq pairs (8 freqs). This simple scheme is quite adequate for 99.99% of everything any FD does in the USA. (witness - FDNY portable radios - UK FD portable radios - German FD portable radios - Swiss FD portable radios - etc) 4. For better service in Massachusetts - we can add the County Fire Mutual Aid freqs. 5. Next step would be to add the freqs of major FDs. 6. Next step would be to add every FD UHF freq in the state. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
