Boston is now 2nd most expensive FD in USA - San Francisco is number 1

----------------------------

I looked at the 2007 Annual Report from the Columbus Ohio FD - very
interesting - IIRC the stats were - 34 stations - 34 engines - 15
ladders - 5 heavy rescues - 34 medic units (ambulances) - 400 EMT &
400 paramedics - apparently the medic units are cross staffed by the
engine companies - like the old St Paul MN system

Columbus FD does a lot of mutual aid - I think they run a regional
fire dispatch center also

Boston FD apparently does not produce an Annual Report

---------------------------

I was just thinking that Cambridge FD has several stations that could
run as third due into Boston (Back Bay and Downtown and Allston) -
Brookline could probably be first, second, and third due on many
Boston locations

Dont forget - "mutual aid" is 'mutual' - a two way street - a balanced
equation - a win win situation
