It is time for the formation of the Mass Dept of Emergency Services (MDES)
This combined agency will provide - police, fire, ambulance, 911, and disaster services Organization Chart - Governor >>> Chief of MDES >>>> then for each county, a Fire / EMS Chief, a Police Chief, and a Disaster Chief 911 should probably have a statewide Chief and a statewide technical staff - then 1 comm center per county head by a Comm Center Boss Man - or maybe - just run 1 comm center per county, and have the statewide IT people help with the most technical issues Hiring - conducted statewide - each employee will be required to live within 1 mile of the duty station - this will obviate the need for racial quotas and will provide a good disaster resiliency State Forestry, State EMA, State OEMS, State Police - all will be rolled into this emergency response agency - anything that requires 'red lights and sirens' will be the primary focus of this agency Question - should trauma centers and major hospitals ERs be part of this agency? Probably yes - seeing as how they play a very very very critical role - (Google Shock Trauma in Maryland) SOPs and purchasing will be centralized statewide - training also - (we are 50% the way there already) Funding will come from the State - this will make budgeting much easier and simpler - if local communities want higher levels of service, then can raise contributions or purchase fire trucks or hire security guards Think of the millions that can be saved and put to better use. How many trauma centers does Boston really need? How many public safety helos are needed? 50? 100? How many redundant police and fire stations are needed? How many redundant 911 centers are needed? This agency will make use of PSOs in some locations. This agency will handle all ambulance calls that require red lights and sirens. (How many private ambulance trips really require 2 EMTs?)(ie - private ambulances can handle all trips that do not require red lights and sirens - that is 95% per San Francisco) --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
