basic info for firefighters

Note - one quibble - I was taught that a 'deflagration' is a
combustion wave that travels slower than the speed of sound - a
'detonation" is a combustion wave that travels faster than the speed
of sound - the speed of the combustion wave depends primarily on the
fuel that is involved IIRC

'Pyrolysis' is defined in this manual near the end - I think it means
- 'when you heat up a fuel it starts to give off flammable vapors' -
if the vapors reach the activation energy - then kaboom - or ignition
