Just thinking out loud Maybe the only safe way to back up a fire apparatus is with 4 people. 1 driver, 1 aide in front right seat, 1 spotter rear left, and 1 spotter rear right.
Maybe not 4 - how about 3? 1 driver & 1 aide in front right seat & 1 spotter at rear on the drivers side. The aide in the front right seat would be responsible to watch the right mirror. The spotter at the rear would be responsible for insuring that nothing is struck as the vehicle is backing up. The spotter would have his back to the driver. The driver would be responsible for watching the spotter via the left mirror. I suppose the safest would be a 180 degree camera at the rear - plus some spotters to insure that no babies or puppies crawl under the wheels as the rig backs up. Of course the spotters would need to watch more than the wheels - they would have to watch that no one jumps on or off the rig - and no one gets crushed between the rig and a nearby vehicle or wall or utility pole or whatever. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
