Malden Mass FD recently changed from 154.25R to 482.0125R. At a recent
2 alarm fire, most of their fireground comms were being conducted on a
simplex channel. However, when the emergency alarm sounded on one of
the portable radios, that radio sent the emergency signal (a bunch of
chirps) on Channel 1 (482.0125R). At that point, the dispatcher began
to try to contact that portable radio on Channel 1. (A warbling alarm
could be heard in the background at the dispatch desk).

Bottom line - for the Malden Mass FD, when an emergency distress alarm
is sounded, the radio automatically switches to Malden FD Channel 1.
