Press releases on the MotivePower website detail several recent orders
from other transit agencies. Maryland bought 26 MPXpress® Commuter
Locomotives for $95 million, Utah bought 10 for $31 million, and
others bought 12 for $33 million. Yet, Boston pays $115 million for
only 20 locomotives? How does that math work? Is the MBTA
specification necessarily more complicated and expensive than all
those other transit agencies? (as if I didn't know the answer to
that!)
