You can see that the fire deaths are way down - my guess is that smoke detectors have made a big difference because I cant think of anything else that has changed much - maybe less smokers? less alcohol abuse? more sprinklers?

for service), the total of Multiple Alarm Fires and Working Fires,
and Civilian Fire Fatalities for each year from 1972 -2010 for the
Boston Fire Department.
