Bolton Massachusetts - hunter swept into frigid river ======================================================================= Bloated editorial follows - Sometimes a millisecond or a millimeter makes all the difference in the world Lets think about that this way - "leeway in situation" versus "severity of outcome" 1. In this situation - " one branch maybe 3 feet long and a determined rescuer " versus " death by drowning " 2. "pull the trigger one inch" versus "blowing brains out in a millisecond" 3. "push the button on the nuke suitcase" versus "blowing up everyone on earth" 4. "letting a kid drive the Galaxy while plastered, and driving into a black hole" - versus - "wrecking one perfectly good Milky Way" 5. "pissing off the animators" versus "destroying the entire universe" - ( Homer did that on the Simpsons IIRC ) One would like to think that there are some warning flags before something really bad happens - but obviously that is not always the case - you are driving down the street, and someone blows a stop sign - you are dead before you even know what hit you - but incidents like that are not very common really - I think we usually see trouble when it is coming our way (even though we might want to ignore it) I willl stop now - Did you see that coming? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
