Massachusetts got $21 million for interop radios in 2007 - where did it get us?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Dont read any of the following depressing stuff.

Middleton highrise box alarm today - Middleton E1 on 460.575 R -
Danvers E3 no where

Franklin medevac call - helo and LZ was on the main channel - good
thing they didnt have any other calls working

BAPERN 4 tied up by surveillance ops continuously (by 1 PD apparently)

Half of agencies never answer radio tests

Boston interops channel 460.275 - never used - never tested

Brockton FD + Lowell FD + Lawrence FD - still on VHF

Carlisle FD still on 33.66

Marlboro FD still on 800

Sudbury PD still on 800

Itac and Utac and Vtac radio channels rarely heard in use - never tested

MetroFire radios rarely tested by any fire agency

Hanscom AFB never heard on any mutual aid channels

No radio linkage between MEMA and CMEDs

No radio linkage between CMEDs and fire aid centers

No radio linkage between CMEDs and police mutual aid centers - if
there really is any such thing

No radio linkage to electric companys or gas companys

On the bright side - BFD tests subway radios on Sunday mornings - 1 PD
tests on BAPERN 3 each evening (is that Waltham like in the morning?)
- many more agencies are on UHF with full local coverage - if the new
channel loads are for real, and the interop channels come alive, and
they work out a good scheme for using them - that will be a good
change also
