(MEMA mentioned Essex County, Suffolk County, Norfolk County, and SE Mass) The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Winter Storm Watch...which is in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.
* Locations...East Coast of Massachusetts...including Cape Cod and the islands. * Hazard types...heavy snow. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches. * Timing...late Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning. * Impacts...poor visibility and slippery travel on untreated surfaces possible for the Monday evening...and especially Tuesday morning...commutes. Still some uncertainty on the track of this low pressure. A track closer to the coast would yield more snow. While a track farther offshore would result in less snow...especially inland. * Winds...northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * Temperatures...in the lower 20s. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Watch is issued for the potential of accumulating snow of 6 or more inches in a 12 hour period...or 8 or more inches in a 24 hour period. Anyone traveling in the next 24 to 36 hours should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to modify travel plans should winter weather develop. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
