I think this info is for only "large fires" -------------------------------------- AFAIK - This is how the feds pay for wildfire operations. All costs are divided into 2 categories - pre suppression or suppression. "Pre suppresion" is everything - except for the costs directly attributed to any fire that exceeds maybe 1 acre. So if a fire truck responds to a small fire, then all the costs are attributed to the "Pre suppression" accounts. If the fire grows beyond maybe 1 acre, then all the cost of the responding staff and equipment are thrown in the "suppression" accounts. For example - lets say that a fire expands to 10 acres and requires 2 days of work by 30 firefighters. The cost of maybe 10 fire trucks (predetermined at maybe $150 per day), and the cost of paying 30 firefighters for 2 days will be billed to this fire. The "suppression" funds will show maybe $30K spent on this fire. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
