Yesterday Cambridge FD units were having radio problems in some garage - I didnt catch the location. The portable in the garage could not hit the Ch 16 repeater system very well (854.4875 R) so the Chief requested that they switch to Ch 15 (854.4875 direct). That did not seem to work either - so Ladder (?4) officer reported that he would meet the Chief for a face to face conversation.
Perhaps it would be useful to review repeater operations. 1. If you cant hit the repeater - change your location or raise your antenna 2. Switch to direct ops - make sure the dispatcher doesnt talk over direct comms 3. Move to a window or raise antenna again 4. Relay from portable to portable to IC (on direct) 5. Send messengers 6.
