Once upon a time something thought it would be a good idea to renumber all of the FDNY companies. Instead of having Engine 82 and Ladder 31 in the same fire station, it was theorized that the units should be renumbered to Engine 82 and Ladder 82 in the same fire station. I wonder what cities still have the system where rigs have different numbers in the same station - Boston - NYC - Philly - Chicago - San Francisco - Seattle - Cleveland - Detroit - New Orleans - Minneapolis - ????
