Fire that claimed the lives of two of Boston's Bravest was caused by
welders working in the rear of the building, @BostonFire officials say
- tweeted by NBC Nightly News at 1042AM EDT

Did they say what day the welders were there?

welders were working at rear of 296 Beacon - slag got under the
shingles - unintentional cause - DA and investigators will decide
whether to pursue criminal culpability - cause and origin was
determined by burn patterns and witness statements - fire spread to
298 Beacon after installation of exterior handrail

Massachusetts does not have a negligent homicide law on the books
except as related to some motor vehicle accidents - future legal
action will be informed by the truth

BPD Evans said there was no fire detail and no welding permit

No comment if 911 was called by workers

Fire Chief said that Mass CMR 39 requires permit - said ther is no
record of anyone requesting a permit - usually a Fire Chief inspects
the location to determine if a detail is needed - building is not
required to have sprinklers - "we dont discuss tactics" - door left
open

1044 AM - per TV 7 - "a perfect storm fueled the backdraft "

TV7 stresses accident and routine

"you heard our Steve Cooper ask about sprinklers which added fuel to
the fire" - that is a direct quote

1045 AM - TV7 wraps up by saying that "the fire killed the 2 firefighters"
