Byfield FD still has the slowest box beeper on the planet in use on 153.815 R
I heard a box come in around 4 PM - apparently it was the 2nd time the
box had been received in 30 minutes
As soon as the box started to beep, a 2 tone pager signal was sent
over the beeper a couple of times. And the pager signal was
transmitted again after the beeper stopped; followed by a verbal
announcement of the box by the dispatcher ('594' = Byfield FD)
Seemed to be Box 121 for the Ice Rink - I think that just one round
were beeped - but it took nearly a full minute. C1 responded with the
(school) mtnce man. Engine 1 did not respond (although they had just
called off at the fire station about 1 minute before the box came in)
According to my best calculations - this slow beeper would only
interfere with any direct comms on 153.815. It should not affect any
comms to and from 594 Byfield nor 595? Newbury FD - if the beeper is
wired correctly to the repeater - or if there is a different repeater
input for the beeper (which would be kinda funky).
