I have 1 scanner and 1 computer to use to listen to all the local action. What should I do?
1. The scanner can receive 1 message at a time. The scanner has no capability for playback unless I hook up a tape recorder to it. 2. The computer can play multiple scanner streams. The computer can also record the scanner streams (in theory - if I figured out how to do it). 3. Computer (live scanner audio via the Internet) streams might be dedicated to one channel or multi channels. Some computer streams are selectable in this regards. I cannot control which freqs a scanner feed listens to. At this time, there is 1 dedicated feed at Broadcastify for Arlington PD. There is 1 feed at Wicked Local that has Arlington PD and FD. The Wicked Local feed can be locked on 1 channel - and playback is possible - there is a delay on the audio. There might be 1 feed at Broadcastify that scans Arlington FD. To sum it all up - if I use the computer to listen to Arlington PD via the dedicated feed, I will never miss any APD messages. If I use the scanner to listen to AFD, I will never miss any AFD messages. (That is assuming that my ear and brain is good enough to decipher two messages at once). If I use the Wicked Local feed to scan APD and AFD, with the audio lowered/muted, I can possibly pick up any messages that I miss. Isn't that a grand turkey of an idea? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
