Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln Maine has radio license WPXJ579 which includes the frequencies of 155.355, 453.575, and 458.575.
Do these radio frequencies suggest anything to you? Does it paint a picture of their radio system? Do you see how the various pieces fit together? The simple answer might be - depending on your location, if you are trying to listen to the action on these radio freqs, it might be best to listen to 155.355 - or maybe it is better to listen to 453.575 - or maybe it is better to listen to 458.575. Would you like a few more details? OK - here we go. 1. 155.355 is the freq used by local ambulances to call the hospital. 2. The hospital has a base station on 155.355 on Fish Hill in Lincoln. This location apparently allows for further coverage than if the base station was located at the hospital. 3. 453.575 and 458.575 are used to relay the messages from the hospital to the Fish Hill base station - an vice versa. I cannot tell for sure from the FCC license if 453.575 is used for hospital to hilltop comms, or for hilltop to hospital comms. Lets assume that 453.575 is used for hilltop to hospital comms. In this case, if you listen to 453.575, you should be able to hear messages from ambulances from a large area. But you might not be able to hear the hospital talking on 453.575. In that case, you might have to hop back and forth between a couple of freqs to hear all the messages from everyone. If you cannot hear anything on 453.575, then you might be better off trying to listen to 155.355. There is a slim chance that you might do better by trying to listen to 458.575. It would depend on a couple of different factors. Bottom line - you might be lucky and get great reception by just listening to 453.575. Or you might have to scan between 453.575 and 155.355. Or you might have to scan all 3 channels. The really bottom line is - if you know how the radio system is set up, it can greatly improve your listening capability. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
