How about public safety? Will they get green lights also? Do they already?

Boston has 550 signalized intersections. I wonder how much control the
Traffic Management Center (TMC) has over them? That could be great for
public safety. If something big happens in a neighborhood - you could
give everyone approaching the neighborhood a red light. That would
keep them out of danger, and reduce congestion in the neighborhood.
Public safety units might have to travel on the wrong side of some
streets - but I am sure they already do that alot already.

Major downtown streets -

Congress St - 2 lanes each direction - undivided

Cambridge St - 2 lanes each direction - divided

Tremont St - multi lanes - one way outbound in downtown

Washington St - 2 lanes - one way inbound downtown

Beacon St - mostly one way outbound - multi lanes

Boylston St - 3 lanes - one way inbound

Commonwealth Ave - 2 lanes in each direction - divided by a park in the Back Bay

Columbus Ave - mostly 2 way

Mass Ave - 2 lanes in each direction - undivided
