2013 article in New York Times here is the golden info - Medicare pays either $289 or $481 for ambulance calls it doesnt matter what the ambulance company charges - Medicare is only paying $289 or $481 (probably BLS vs ALS) ------------------------------------ imagine if you ran a private ambulance company with 1 BLS ambulance that made 1 trip per hour 8 hours per weekday - you would be earning $120,000 per year - you pay $80K for the 2 EMTs and 20K for capital costs - that leaves $20,000 as profit - that seems about right - I think I can see why they want to get some rich patients with fat health insurance policies -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
