Looking at the MetroFire box cards -

If Arlington had 50 people jumping out the windows at the hotel on
Mass Ave at the Cambridge border - and if Cambridge had 4 ladder
companys operating at a towering dumpster fire 100 feet away - how
many Cambridge Ladders would respond to the 10 alarm fire in
Arlington? I reckon ZERO.

If Somerville had 300 people jumping out of the the new buildings at
Assembly Square, how many Boston Ladders would respond? I reckon ZERO.

If Watertown had 500 people jumping out of the condos on Greenough
Blvd, how many Boston Ladders would respond on the 10 alarms? I reckon
ZERO.

If Brookline had 1,000 people jumping out of the highrises at
Brookline Village, how many Boston Ladders would respond? I reckon
ZERO. (actually Boston sends a Ladder to the fire on the 2nd alarm and
the 5th alarm in Brookline, but what are the odds that L26 or TL10
would not be tied up on medical calls?)

If Chelsea had everyone in the city jumping out the windows, how many
Ladders would Boston send on the 20th alarm? I reckon ZERO. (But you
know that is a trick question because there is no 20th alarm. But
guess what - the answer is the same for the 10th alarm. No Boston
Ladders are assigned on the 10 alarm running card for Chelsea!).
Apparently someone is trying to burn Chelsea down (again).

How about one more just for luck? If you are leaning out the window in
Dedham, then hold your breath till a Quincy Ladder shows up on the 3rd
alarm. Unless the Boston Ladder on the 2nd alarm saved you. Unless
they went to the other side of your building. D'oh!
