Arlington County Virginia

https://www.arlnow.com/2015/09/01/arlingtons-police-radio-channels-are-down/

something fishy as the comments clearly point out

lets think about this

1. TRS suck

2. no one ever practices backup procedures

3. they probably called everyone by cellphone or MDT to tell them what
channel to switch to - lets hope the cellphones or MDTs never go down

4. If it was a bad Bi directional amplifier (BDA) - lets try to figure
this out - a BDA takes a signal from outside and pushes it into a bld
- and takes a signal from inside a bld and pushes it outside a bld -
if the signals get pushed at too high of a level into a bld, they can
leak back outside - and be pushed back inside the bld - creating a
perpetual loop - which probably creates a nice donut hole in your
radio coverage area

It would seem that the problem would exist in just one area of the
county - versus - on just 1 or 2 channels (or talkgroups)

Right?

5. Probably would have been better to switch to conventional channels
located within Arlington - which would provide better coverage for
Arlington units - maybe they do not have any conventional backup
channels - tsk tsk tsk - didnt Katrina teach anybody nothing?

keywords - resilience - lame - backup capacity - Plan B -
communications are vital - seconds are a matter of life and death -
meaningless words - radio system design - failure of public safety
communications system - radio system fail - make radio not go now
