-------------------------------- Massachusetts has 351 citys and towns. There are no unincorported areas. There might be approx 200 911 PSAPs now. There are probably still 400 dispatch points. I suppose it could be worse - there could be 351 police dispatch points, 351 fire dispatch points, and 351 ambulance dispatch points. In fact, there are probably 500 police agencies (all armed - including colleges and malls and such) - maybe 1000 if you throw in all the industrial security guards. There are over 351 fire departments - maybe 365 - maybe 375. 200 ambulance services - yeah - something like that. Plus lots of FDs and FDs that do EMS first response. Someday - Massachusetts will have just one 911 center. Maybe it will be called "Mass Whole Call". Probably somewhere around 2075 they will finish building it. Might take 50 years to build, and 1000 years to pay for. By gawd - its gonna happen. Because I'm a general; and thats my job.
