Questions about NYPD Does anyone have good solid info about NYPD radio ops?
1. What are the "Patrol Boro" channels used for? (maybe for random undercover ops per 2012 post) 2. Do the "Patrol Boro" channels use synchronized simulcast repeaters or steered repeaters? (The FCC ULS says that Patrol Boro Bronx has 2 FB2 - and - Patrol Boro Manhattan has 3 FB2 3. What are the Boro Transit channels used for? 'Transit bronx' has 2 FB2 - 'Transit Manhattan' has 2 Fb2 also - no subway FB2 are listed - the listed FB2 are on high sites 4. What is 482.8625 R used for on Staten Island? There are 2 FB2 sites on SI listed for this channel. 5. 482.3875 R has 2 sites on Staten Island - apparently this is an interops channel. Are those 2 sites synchronized simulcast? 6. There are no secondary repeaters listed on any of these channels. So there is the possibility that we are seeing primary and backup repeaters listed. (I am not familiar enough with the locations to figure it out - maybe the maps at Radio ref would help - a project for another day) ============================= NYPD seems to be pretty thin on radio channels. Maybe 1 repeater channel for every 200,000 population - plus maybe 1 boro wide channel as backup maybe - plus a bunch of HT channels - plus maybe 3 citywide channels of unknown coverage value - plus some new interop channels of unknown value FDNY essentially has the same scheme - as does FDNY EMS - actually FD and EMS have fewer channels - they dont have 3 citywide channels - just 2 of them -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
