I post about Trumpf being a madman. Then I get a notice to do a restart that looks like every other restart notice I have ever seen. Do the restart and lose the ability to enter my Pin on my signin screen. After a while I got it sorted out.
1. technical support is NG 2. everytime I saw a phrase (such as "keyword wont log") I would enter that phrase into Google Search and see what suggestions were offered 3. Getting to the registry, I was still being battled. First entry - runs fine until battery dies. 2nd time - entry wont run. I slightly modify entry; and it runs fine. 4. Reset OS back to 4/1/2017 - all seems to be good now. I have connection set as metered at this point. Supposedly it will stop Windows from updating me. Windows already wants me to do a restart.
