Los Padres National Forest - California - 2017 radio info high quality info - I a not sure if it is totally accurate because it has 173.9375 & 173.9625 &173.9875 listed - which I thought were phased out 5 years ago because they were too close to a TV channel in any case - this seems to be the programming guide for the fire radios - it is a fairly common scheme - comprised of - the 2 Los Padres National Forest main channels - and then 1 air to ground channel and 1 crew channel - plus 1 or 2 tac channels - and then a bunch of mutual aid channels / local agency channels - 16 channels per group More specifically - there are 9 groups for the Los Padres NF - from north to south - north is up around Monterey County - south is down in Ventura County by Los Angeles County there are also several groups with channels grouped by county - Ventura County - Kern County - Santa Barbara County - San Luis Obispo County - Monterey County - etc I noticed that the 9 LPNF groups all have - Forest Net - Admin Net - F3 - NIFC Tac 2 - Air to Ground Forest Net and Admin Net are repeaterized channels - with multiple repeaters in use - each with a different PL on the input (which is selected by the filed user) F3 + NIFC Tac 2 + Air to Ground are simplex channels Admin Net and Forest Net and F3 are dedicated to LPNF use - NIFC Tac 2 and A/G are shared with other USFS and cooperator users All channels of the field radios are apparently preprogrammed - except that sometimes there is an option to change a PL on an input channel - stated another way - the operator of the field radio only has the option of turning the radio on and off - turning the volume up or down - changing channels or zones - and sometimes the field user can select a specific transmit PL in order to activate a specific repeater - apparently the field users do NOT have the ability to enter new channels on the fly (in the field) CalCord 156.075 is also found in several groups F4 is found in the southern Groups but not the northern most groups - same goes for Forest Net Direct and Admin Net Direct "Fire Camp" might be a new channel - it might have 1 repeater or 7 repeaters NIFC Tac 10 is 170.00 - really ? NIFC Tac 4 is 173.9125 - really ? NIFC Tac 5 is 173.9625 - really ? NIFC Tac 6 is 173.9875 - really ? I don't see any channel for Law Enforcement nor for back country techs or DPW type people - nor any work channel or project channel - R5 does have a dedicated work channel reportedly - but I don't see it listed here anywhere Anybody know what they use 168.20 for? It is listed as NIFC Tac 2 and as R5 Crew Net - is this the channel that the hand crews are supposed to use for internal comms? Also note that the backup regional a/g channel is not listed anywhere - and none of the air tactics channels are listed - apparently they don't want any ground troops talking directly to any airtankers - unless they use A/G also note that 168.625 is NOT listed always in the Channel 16 spot -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
