dc 911 sends firefighters 5 miles away on call to help secret service
near white house

maybe the time has come to formalize dispatcher job descriptions
nationwide - maybe 6 classifications are needed - police calltaker -
EMS calltaker - fire calltaker - police radio dispatcher - fire radio
dispatcher - ambulance radio dispatcher - therefore the smallest 'all
services' dispatch center would have 6 people on duty - so maybe a
population of 200,000 would need to be served - and more dispatchers
would be needed for wildfire ops and aviation ops

maybe it is time to add 912 to 911 - make 911 for cops - make 912 for
fire and ems

or - let police calltakers answer all 911 calls - and they could do a
'slick' handover to fire and ems calltakers - police calltaker would
start the interview and summon a fire or ems calltaker to take over
the call (unseen/unknown to the caller) - such as - there has been a
car crash at Rte 24 and Elm St - has anyone been injured? - yes I
think so - (button pushed to summon ems calltaker) - did you say Rte
24 at Elm St - yes I did - can you tell how many people are injured? -
maybe 2 - EMS calltaker now jumps on the line - is anyone unconscious?
- yes - is anyone trapped? - maybe - ems calltaker now summons fire
calltaker

jeez - that got convoluted quickly LOL - but if all the calltakers are
using the same CAD, then it should not be a big deal to coordiante
between 3 calltakers - the coordination is gonna have to happen one
way or the other
