this info gives you a good look at how cal fire and the california
counties work cooperatively to operate some of the "county fire
departments" - the Placer County FD covers approx 1/3 of the county -
they serve around 60,000 living in 424 square miles with 12 stations
and 61 fulltime staff - plus 33 vols

this is a joint cal fire / placer county organization

fire  stations have cal fire units and county fire units and maybe
even some local units

staffing is - cal fire (year round and seasonal) + volunteers + maybe
some reserves and maybe some part timers and maybe some live ins and
maybe some interns / rookies / recruits / students / apprentices

I think that all stations have someone in the station 365 days per
year - except some of the 70 stations
