lets say that we want to deliver vitamin D to every housing unit in
Arlington - 40,000 population - OK lets aim for delivering 20,000
bottles per month - each bottle having a 2 month supply - maybe 120
capsules in each bottle

lets aim for hand delivery - door to door - by a health worker with
health brochures - lets say that it takes 1 minute to walk from home
to home - like a mail man

how many bottles can 1 person deliver in 1 day ? - 7 hours X 60
minutes - 420 minutes - 420 bottles - lets call it 400 to make it easy
- working 5 days will put 2,000 bottles in circulation

we have to deliver 5,000 bottles per week - so we need 2.5 workers to
make the deliveries

a town of 40.000 should be able to fund 2.5 people in order to save 50
lives per year

bottom line - it does not take huge sums of money to run an intensive
public health response to a pandemic
