this is probably one of the most important positions in all of the usfs this person is responsible for dispatching most of the federal wildfire aircraft in northern california - anything north of sacramento basically pretty sure that there are a total of 3 or 4 aircraft dispatchers at the North Zone Office - so this person would share the responsibility with 2 or 3 other people to cover all hours of the day 24/7/365 this is the person who decides where the federal copters and tankers will go - if there are 3 major fires starting - and only 2 tankers available - this is the person who decides which tankers go where apply by monday or whatever of course North Zone works hand in hand with the other zones and gaccs and nifc to decide on the placement of the aircraft across the usa - we suspect the scheme is - 9am conference call - everyone across the usa explains what their local fire situation is - then nifc makes the big decision on the nationwide allocation of aerial assets - which zones and gaccs get which aircraft - from then on, its up to the aircraft dispatchers at the zone and gacc levels to allocate their assigned aircraft - as you would expect pretty much -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
