john m alleges that digital p25 makes up for distance loss due to narrowbanding we think this is totally incorrect 1. few if any of the major national forests have added repeater sites due to narrowbanding afaik - if any group would be severely affected by narrowbanding - it would be them 2. the trade press makes no mention of this allegation - in fact iirc the trade press had reported that p25 and narrow fm have the same range but P25 drops off a cliff but narrow FM degrades gracefully at the end of range 3. many local police agencies are typically trying desperately to hide from the public and the news media and the FBI 4.
