Palisades Fire - 23,440 acres burnt - 70% contained now - 5,330 homes destroyed - 1,242 other blds destroyed - 11 dead Eaton Fire - 14,021 acres burnt - 95% contained - 6,119 homes destroyed - 3,290 other blds destroyed - 17 dead ================== not sure why the Eaton Fire losses were so high - maybe no one had done any fire hardening - 3 FDs have primary responsibility in the area - Pasadena + Los Angeles County FD + ? Sierra Madre ? FD note - would be very interesting to see how many firemen live in the fire areas - and what sort of involvement they have in their neighborhood fire services - my guess is that none of the off duty firefighters ever participate in any emergency activities - except if a neighbor yells at them - or there is a total FD recall of all staff - and even that would be problematic since maybe 50% of the firemen who live in Pasadena might work for LA City FD or LA County FD and therefore have no direct connection to Pasadena FD - this is a nationwide problem - would be nice if every off duty firefighter was an honorary member of their hometown FD - obviously whats happening now is sub optimum totally dude -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
