keep in mind - these are the fdny units - there are also voluntary units and volunteer units voluntary units are run by local hospitals - they account for nearly 33% of the onduty ambulances in the 911 system iirc the volunteer units are unpaid local neighborhood units hatzolah has 100 ambulances several private ambulance companies have maybe 500 ambulances total pretty sure the ems system operates this way in nyc - dial 911 - police calltaker connects caller to EMS callteker - then ems dispatcher gives call to fdny amb or voluntary amb or volunteer amb via fdny ems radio system or fdny mdt system or fdny cad system if someone calls the 10 digit phone number for a private ambulance service or a volunteer amb or maybe even a hospital amb - they are connected to the dispatcher for that service - and they use their private radio system to dispatch the call - hatzolah and the volunteer amb definetly have their own radio channels - dont think that any of the hospital ambs have their own radio channels - they might use rented radios -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
