adding more and more info daily what we are seeing is that the dispatch systems have undergone many mergers in the last 20 or 30 years - in many areas the blm dispatch functions and the USFS dispatch functions have been merged into the same buildings - the radio systems have not been totally merged - but the overlap is minimal since they essentially protect different areas - the USFS deals with the mountains - the BLM deals with the rangelands to expand that a little more - the Fish and Wildlife Service deals with the marsh lands - and the Natl Parks Service deals with the national parks we are not exactly sure how coordinated the USFWS is into the combined blm / usfs dispatch centers - the FWS does not have alot of major fires - their sites are widely scattered and relatively small - each reserve has an office and probably a receptionist / radio dispatcher - they mostly use slipon pumpers - maybe When you start hearing MSM talk about the new and improved Super Mega Cool Federal Wildfire Service - it might not mean a heck of alot -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
