this starts out with some info about the very beginning of the fire and the topography and vegetation he says that the progression was delineated in a different video but not sure what video that is he says that the fire swooped down on the homes as a 1/2 mile wide front all at once - and that seems to make sense based on the topography however - he makes no mention of where the initial water drops happened - nor where the initial ladder pipes were set up - if they set any up - or where the initial deck guns were set up - if any were set up we dont remember hearing any initial orders via radio in that vein - it seems that all the fire apparatus went into the neighborhood and ran 1 attack line each - and that was it - no one told them which roads to use - iirc the first engine did not arrive for 7 minutes - they had to go 3 miles and drive up 1000 feet in elevation - and there was only 1 road in - and maybe half of the first alarm units staged 1 mile away at fire station 23 - and la county was not notified for 10 minutes bottom line - the first 5 minutes of the fire basically guaranteed that 5,000 homes would burn what did the ladder trucks do at the fire? they dont have hose nor water tanks nor pumps - hopefully they run extra hoselines off the engines the aerial attack plan should have been pretty obvious - there was a huge flame front driven by heavy winds at the homes - obviously they needed to do water drops on the flame front or on the vegetation between the homes and the flame front - something tells me that all of the water that they dropped turned to mist or steam all in all - the fact they didnt have 10 engines up in that neighborhood before the fire started - wetting down evwrything - sealed their fate in fact - if they had wet down everything before the winds arrived - maybe the fire would have never rekindled -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
