this is what fire fandom shows today for los angeles county fd 228 Engine Companies (Career and paid-on-call)
176 Type 1 Engines 11 Type 3 Engines (Including 5 OES) 41 Type 6 Patrols ============================ the budget document says 163 engine companies - why the difference in numbers? 1. 176 + 11 + 41 = 228 2. however - 'engine' is not the same as 'engine company' - 'engine' is a vehicle - 'engine company' is the crew / people 3. iirc none of the type 3 engines and none of the type 6 engines are full time staffed 4. there seems to be 6 TY3 engines that are cross staffed by the 3 or 4 people from the associated type 1 engine - the 5 OES type 3 engines are maybe staffed by overtime people 5. the type 6 patrols are maybe staffed by 1 person from the associated type 1 engine - and they respond with the Type 1 engine to calls - for greater access to dirt roads perhaps 6. if we had to guess - we would guess that there are 165 type 1 engines that have 24/7 crews of 3 or 4 people - AND - there are 11 type engines that are staffed by paid on call firefighters - at sta 92 and 117 and 70 and 71 and 55 and 155 etc 7. Station 155 might be the only station staffed solely by paid on call firefighters - and 157 green valley and 112 near lancaster and 140 - ( maybe a couple more - maybe not - 50/50 odds on that ) 8. maybe there are 11 stations that have paid on call engines - and 4 of those stations have only 'paid on call' firefighters - therefore - doing the math - there must be 7 stations that have both 24/7 paid firefighters - plus 'paid on call' firefighters - apparently none of the LA County stations have 'daytime firefighters' - like Cal Fire - which is kinda weird considering that USFS and BLM only have daytime firefighters 99% of the time 9. enough of this crap - we put purple snowflakes on the map to show the VOLUNTEER stations in LA County - https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1_w7H8a8E4m1L6MxvKJgBKUAljvo&usp=sharing 10. just occurred to me - some of these purple snowflake stations might not have cellphone service in their areas -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
