per 2026 calif mobilization plan Smokejumpers’ primary mission is initial attack. All initial attack orders will be honored when smoke jumpers are available. While most effective at providing rapid initial responses, smokejumpers are well equipped to respond to extended attack incidents and short-term critical need missions on large fires. Smokejumpers are configured and deployed by planeload, with each load ranging from eight to 14 smokejumpers, depending on aircraft type and smokejumper availability. Smokejumpers arrive at an incident with tools and supplies for three days of fire suppression activities. California maintains two smokejumper (para-cargo) fixed wing aircraft during the active fire season that are based at Redding. They are identified as “Jump 42” and “Jump 76”. NOPS will determine the number of aircraft and smokejumpers available for a given day.
Almost all fire cache items can be delivered via Para-cargo. In addition, special items such as fresh food, drinking water and sack lunches can be delivered. Emergency medical care and rescue equipment can be delivered via para-cargo. The smokejumper unit maintains 6 trauma kits with TRS litters rigged for Para cargo delivery, every Smokejumper aircraft carries one of these kits available for order at all times. Additional trauma kits/TRS litters, a basket litter with wilderness wheel, and an AED are available for order from the Redding base. yo - boston med flight - you reading this? mass oems - you reading this? anyone? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "massfire" group.
