Seems to work! I'd love to have it as a feature in the trunk! I'll try to work with it for a longer time and see if I get any kind of funny behaviour or not... If you don't hear from me within a week or to then I haven't found anything funny going on :)
I just quickly tested with echo "a " and selected a full line and only the two characters and pasted them back into the mrxvt... It works. Love it!!
