Yeah. Bummer. I'm the one responsible for this. I added the option about
a year ago to implement "sticky" tab titles, in response to a bunch of
user requests. (I think the default bashrc with 3.1 / 3.2 cleared the
tab title after every command, and some users were quite annoyed).

Unfortunately I mainly use Xft, and haven't had the time to test / code
the same option in for non-xft. I'll add it to the TODO list. I'll also
gratefully accept patches (since it's already done in the Xft case, it
shouldn't be that hard to read the #ifdefs and copy the relevant parts
over)...
