I've never seen this happen on mrxvt. (I sometimes leave it open for
*months*). As Jim suggests, it might be an autologout behaviour of your
shell.

Some default (shell) configurations check if you're running xterm (by
checking the TERM variable) and disable auto-logout in that case. See if
you can find something similar in your shell's startup scripts.
