Project abstract: Through groundbreaking results showing that the axioms of arithmetic, rational and real analysis, and set theory are derivable in higher-order modal logic from the principle that there could have been any finite number of things, and a defense of the underlying philosophical presuppositions, Upper aims to finally consummate the logicist project via a novel synthesis between mathematics, logic and modal metaphysics. They have to hold a PhD in philosophy or a related area qualifying them to do work on the project.
