Project abstract: Through groundbreaking results showing that the axioms of 
arithmetic, rational and real analysis, and set theory are derivable in 
higher-order modal logic from the principle that there could have been any 
finite number of things, and a defense of the underlying philosophical 
presuppositions, Upper aims to finally consummate the logicist project via a 
novel synthesis between mathematics, logic and modal metaphysics.

The project is integrated into the LanCog group 
(https://cful.letras.ulisboa.pt/lancog/) and the Postdoc will be a full member 
of the group and  of the CFUL (https://cful.letras.ulisboa.pt/about-cful/).

Applicants should have a strong background in philosophy of mathematics, 
philosophical logic, formal metaphysics, or in other areas of philosophy 
enabling them to do high-quality research related to the project's topics and 
the postdoc roles within it.

They have to hold a PhD in philosophy or a related area qualifying them to do 
work on the project.
The PhD cannot be acquired longer than three years before the submission of the 
application.

The starting date of the position is 1 January 2026.

The Postdoc will be initially hired for 12 months, extendable up to 36 months.

Stipend amount: 1851 Euro per month
