I can add my voice to the chorus of love that mathopd is amazing. Mathopd serves 100mbit of mp3 files on http://magnatune.com on one machine without ever, ever failing, and is the only web server that's able to survive out-of-control spidering by kids in China trying to get everything off my site.
Mathopd now serves all the book covers and graphics at http://bookmooch.com, background music to hundreds of restaurants at http://moodmixes.com and more.... I've tried lighthttpd and while it is feature packed (I use it for feeding podcasts due to its bandwidth restriction feature), lighttpd does occasionally crash. The mathopd source code is very cleanly written, so I've occasionally hacked it for small features I want, which isn't possible with any other high performance web server. So... an extended HUGE THANK YOU for the great work you've done. -john
