Dear all, Please find attached the link to the article, 'The Internet and free learning' (Teacher Plus, May-June 2017 issue) by Prakash Iyer.
http://www.teacherplus.org/2017/may-june-2017/the-internet-and-free-learning The author talks about the authenticity and reliability of data available on the internet. He elaborates on the 'technological trap' - how our simple act of accessing the internet for 'answers/information' has the potential to influence our judgements, beliefs and the way we think. He also discusses this in the context of learning and education. In the last section of the article, the author emphasizes on the role of the 'teachers' in helping their students develop the skills to differentiate between truth and popular opinion and become critical users of internet. Given that internet and technology based teaching-learning is gaining momentum in today's schooling system, I found it very relevant to share this article with all of you. Thanks.
