It helps to show the conductor has repulsion in magnetic field. That is motor principle. When the conductor connects to the 6 volt battery , electricity flow through the conductor, induce magnetic field. That is repule by magnets, the conductor moves either onwards or outward. Depending upon right fist law. When the connection of the battery reversed, the conductor moves opposite to the previous movement.
