Aaolk: Since I can't reproduce your problem, I'm afraid I can't give you any concrete advice. It could be Basemap, matplotlib, numpy, PIL or even python itself. To narrow down the possibilities, you can try moving trimming your loop line by line and see if you can make it go away. The python garbage collector interface (http://www.python.org/doc/2.4/lib/module-gc.html) might be of some help also. -Jeff -- Jeffrey S.
