I remember that "-" is also rendedered as a dot in the HTML output.

Using "\-" instead of "-" seems to work. But, I'm afraid that the help
(or similar) command, which I frequently use in interactive sessions,
may show "\-" instead of "-".

So, quoting seems to be a best option to me.
