Hello, This is usually done by using several calls to "axes", specifying the coordinates of the different plots in the figure. The "plot" coordinates are in the range 0..1 times 0..1.
An example is provided here http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/examples/pylab_examples/axes_demo.html with two plots in the main one, you can skip one of them.
