I used to use the m_map tool for matlab

the same maps in matplotlib (BaseMap)? Specifically, how to draw axes in
such figures: http://www.eos.ubc.ca/~rich/private/extblueocean.gif or
http://www.eos.ubc.ca/~rich/private/exmiller.gif ?
